शिवसेना नेते श्री. सुभाष देसाई यांचा जन्म १२ जुलै १९४२ रोजी कोकणातील मालगुंड या गावात झाला. गोरेगाव ही त्यांची कर्मभूमी. समाजकारणाची आणि राजकरणाची सुरुवात त्यांनी गोरेगावमधूनच केली. त्यांच्या कामाच्या झपाट्यामुळे, कल्पकतेमुळे ते गोरेगावात लवकरच लोकप्रिय झाले. गोरेगावच्या विकासाचा ध्यास त्यांनी सतत घेतला आणि तो केला देखील. त्यामुळेच आज समाजवादी नेत्या मृणाल गोरेंचे गोरेगाव हे सुभाष देसाईंचे गोरेगाव म्हणून लोक ओळखू लागले.
