Amit Vilasrao Deshmukh is a senior Indian National Congress (INC) leader and a three-term Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly (MLA) representing Latur City, Latur district, Maharashtra. Currently serving as MLA since 2009, he is also the National Secretary of the All India Congress Committee. Amit Deshmukh has previously held key positions including Cabinet Minister for Medical Education & Cultural Affairs in the Maharashtra government and Guardian Minister of Latur district. Known for his focus on youth leadership, development, and social work, he has played a significant role in local educational and cooperative initiatives, and is respected for his commitment to the welfare of farmers and the development of Latur

- He attended Thadomal Shahani Engineering College and completed his Chemical Engineering from there.
- From a very early age he was groomed to be a politician one day. His father Late Vilasrao Deshmukh was a noted politician and therefore it became easy for him to join politics. He is introvert and reserved kind of person.
- He started off by associating with the Maharashtra Youth Congress after the completion of his graduation.
- He slowly was given the responsibilities and he was trained in managing sugar cooperatives and later he himself took charge of the colleges and schools which are run by their own charitable trust named Deshmukh’s Manjra Charitable Trust. The trust has set up educational institutes in Latur, Maharashtra. After his father felt that he was groomed enough, he was handed the party ticket to contest for state elections in 2009.
