Shankarrao Bhaurao Yeole (12 September 1927 - 24 June 2012) was a freedom fighter and senior journalist from Karmala taluka of Solapur district. He participated in the Chale Jao Movement of 1942 and the Hyderabad/Marathwada Mukti Sangram of 1946-1948. He was the Founder/President of the Solapur District Underground Freedom Fighters Association. He worked as a journalist for more than 60 years in the newspapers Dainik Navashakti, Dainik Navakal, Dainik Maratha, Dainik Tarun Bharat, Dainik Sanchar. And he was the Founder/Editor of Saptahik Salla. (The first newspaper of Karmala taluka) He was also the President of Solapur District Journalist Association. Two books written by him, 'Swatantrya Ladha in Solapur District' and 'Jai Ambe Kamlabhavani' based on the history of Karmala's Shri Kamlabhavani Temple and Karmala area were published in 1994 and 1995 respectively. Shankarrao Yeole was honored with many awards for his contribution to the Indian freedom struggle and the journalism field of Solapur district.
